12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Opening Day

It was an exciting first day at this year's CLiburn Competition. The first three pianists of the day set the bar very high for their fellow competitiors. I think the highlights for me were the brilliant performance of the Liszt-Horowitz "Variations on Mendelssohn's Wedding March", by pianist, Albert Mamriev. Also most impressive was Nigerien-UK pianist, Sodi Braide. The women are certainly a strong voice this year. The screening jury selected nineteen women for this year's competition.
